Pumpkin Carving Cleanup Guide
It’s that time of year again. Pumpkin carving season is here, and although the process of carving pumpkins is fun, the cleanup is not. Somehow, pumpkin guts end up everywhere! Luckily, there are some quick tips and life hacks to make the cleanup process easier and less messy. Read our pumpkin carving cleanup guide before you start carving your pumpkins this year!
Setting Up Your Pumpkin Carving Workspace
Pumpkin carving is a messy activity, so you’ll want to do it outside. If that’s not an option for you, you should carve in your kitchen. Wherever you choose to carve, put down a few layers of old newspapers, paper grocery bags, cardboard, or any other similar material. A life hack for carving pumpkins is to clean them out inside a trash bag. Spread open a trash bag on your working surface, and position your pumpkin inside of the opening of the bag on the work surface. This method allows for super quick cleanup. Also, make sure to wear old clothes!
Post-Carving Cleanup
After the pumpkin carving fun is over, it’s important to clean up your workspace to avoid attracting pests. Plus, pumpkin guts are sticky! To clean up, wrap all of your pumpkin cuttings and guts up in your surface protector, and toss them in the trash. If you carve in a trash bag, cleanup is as easy as simply tying the trash bag. If pumpkin guts get on anything other than your workspace, use a warm, wet washcloth to remove any stickiness.
Dealing With Rotting Pumpkins
Most people have probably experienced what happens if you leave a pumpkin or jack o'lantern out for too long. It does not smell good! Rotting pumpkins can leave mold stains on surfaces that can be tough to remove. Toss your rotten pumpkin in the garbage or into your garden for a chance at growing your own pumpkin. To deal with the surface stain, you can first try spraying or pressure-washing it, if the surface allows it. If that doesn’t work, give us a call for expert advice. There are also ways to prolong the life of your pumpkin, which you can read about here! Don’t ruin the pumpkin carving experience for yourself by leaving behind a huge mess to deal with. Keeping your pumpkin carving station contained and organized will help smoothen out the cleaning process. To learn more about residential cleaning tips, visit our website or give us a call!
