As we continue to settle into this new season accompanied by humid air and hot sun, it’s time to clean up those areas that need some extra attention to stay clean during the summer months. Not sure where to start? Don’t stress! We created a summer cleaning checklist to help you stay organized while cleaning:

• Air Vents:

The hot Florida weather is sure to keep your AC working a lot harder. Cleaning up your air vents with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris will not only keep your house clean but also your lungs.

• Closets:

It’s time to say goodbye to all those sweaters and hoodies. Bring on the swimsuits and tank tops! Storing your winter garments somewhere other than your closet will help you find your summer clothes much easier.

• Trash Can:

The hot sun can make odor and mold growth much worse than usual. To clean your trash can, scrub it with soap and water and rinse it with a garden hose.

• Windows:

Who doesn’t want to enjoy natural lighting this season! Not only is natural light beautiful, but it also lowers your utility bill. Keep your windows free of the smudges that block the sunlight with glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth.

• Swimming Pool:

It’s pool season! It’s finally time to clean the pool filter and remove those leaves floating around at the top.

• Refrigerator:

Your fridge needs to be cleaned every couple of months, so why not have it ready in time for all the fresh fruits and veggies that are in season? Wipe down all the trays and drawers with a sponge and soapy water. To get rid of any invisible bacteria growth, go over your fridge with a towel and diluted vinegar.

• Patio:

Sweep down your patio and dust your outdoor furniture so you can enjoy those pleasant summer evenings outdoors.

• Grill:

If you’re the barbeque type, you might want to clean up your grill before you turn it on again after a year. To clean your grill, turn it on to the highest heat setting and let it burn off the grease for a few minutes. Then, use a grill brush until the grates are spotless. Finally, enjoy your rack of ribs!

• Ceiling Fans:

Your ceiling fans are sure to get a lot more use this season. However, it’s crucial to clean up the tops of the blades every so often because of the amount of dirt and dust they collect. An easy and effective way to clean a ceiling fan is by using an old pillowcase. Slip the pillowcase into each blade one by one and pull it back. All the dust will fall into the pillowcase instead of your floor for a convenient and fast pick-up.  We hope this helped you prepare for the upcoming summer season!
